CLUES unveiled the CLUES Latino Art Gallery, an innovative exhibition space dedicated to presenting multidisciplinary art, performance and public programming by Latino artists. The gallery’s inaugural exhibition, VisualizArte, opens September 12 and runs through December 12. Danza Mexica CITLACOATL and Palabristas poetry group participated at the opening reception.
“Our new programs are designed to empower Latinos and youth in our community. By providing them with access to resources and opportunities, they can realize their own American Dream,” said Ruby Lee, CLUES President and CEO. “Our art gallery reaffirms our commitment to amplify cultural engagement and community healing while improving social and economic odds for the people we serve.”
“For our first-ever art exhibit, VisualizArte, we called upon MN-based Latino/a/x artists to build community with us, co-imagine our collective future, and co-create our new casa (home) for Latino arts and culture in Minnesota,” said Aaron Johnson, CLUES Latino Arts & Cultural Engagement Liaison.
Thirty-one local visual artists responded to the call – with work ranging from folk art to fine art – in a wide variety of media, including painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture.
“While Latinos have some of the lowest rates of attendance at traditional art galleries and museums, we know that our communities are rich in culture and artistic expression,” said Johnson. “Our new exhibit space will address this gap by meeting Latino communities where they already are, and by orienting all of our programming, planning and curatorial work around the needs, desires and aspirations of our community.”
Through their submissions, VizualizArte artists offered unique responses to questions faced by the Latino/a/x community in Minnesota:
– What are the hopes and aspirations of MN-based Latino/a/x artists?
– How can we build community through art?
– How can artists heal historical and ongoing traumas, and foster resilience?
– How do we create art spaces that are welcoming and joyful for all community members, especially the most marginalized?
Now CLUES welcomes the public, and especially Minnesota’s Latino/a/x community, to co-engage with them through this work, and help them envision and co-create a loving community — full of life, abundance, and joy.

CLUES presentó la Galería de Arte Latino, un innovador espacio de exhibición dedicado a presentar arte multidisciplinario, performance y programación pública de artistas latinos. La exposición inaugural de la galería, VisualizArte, se inauguró el 12 de septiembre y se extenderá hasta el 12 de diciembre. Danza Mexica CITLACOATL y el grupo de poesía Palabristas participaron en la recepción de apertura.
“Nuestros nuevos programas están diseñados para empoderar a los latinos y a los jóvenes de nuestra comunidad. On Tuesday, August 20, CLUES hosted a screening at Metropolitan State University to showcase short films created through this summer’s Visiones Latino Youth Film Program.
Seven students ages 16 to 19 showcased the 5-minute films they created over the course of the program, an intensive summer workshop that enabled participants to discover new talents and a passion for storytelling while learning skills in scriptwriting, sound recording, cinematography, lighting, and editing. The films explored topics such as identity, belonging and the immigrant experience.
“The aim of this program is to give youth the space to express themselves and share some of the struggles, the hopes and the dreams that each one of the faces,” said Ricardo Bennett-Guzmán, an accomplished Latino artist and filmmaker who led the program. Ricardo recently joined CLUES staff and will be leading a variety of youth programming, including our new Best Buy Teen Tech Center that will soon open at CLUES newly expanded St. Paul Headquarters.
“Film is a reflection of society, both present, and past. Movies can have a great impact – sometimes more than what we think – in our personal lives,” Ricardo continued. “When we make documentaries like this and we tell stories of young people like our students, it’s really inspiring and it really makes a big impact. You never know what you’re going to get.”
The students were joined by friends, family and community leaders as they presented their work for the first time. Guests included CLUES President and CEO Ruby Lee and Metropolitan State University, President Ginny Arthur. The event was also live-streamed for students’ family members living abroad.
“The voices of our Latino youth are critically important for the community development work that we’re doing in Minnesota,” said Ruby Lee, CLUES President, and CEO. “At the same time, we know all the negative things that we’re hearing about our community and about Latino immigrants. This class and these projects counteract those negative voices. So I am very thankful to all for the youth who participated in this program. They are the future of Minnesota!”
Francisca Railef’s film explored her identity and heritage, both as a Latina and a member of the Mapuche indigenous community, through self-reflection and interviews with her father and grandmother. Francisca said she hopes to share her film with other Mapuche youth to help them learn more about their history and be proud of who they are. She would like to continue learning more about filmmaking and have the chance to tell more stories.
“I was really nervous until I sat down here and was ready to watch it,” Francisca said. “It was cool to see how all the time that went into it and all the stress and the ups and downs that came with it came to be this really cool video. And everyone else’s video was amazing! You never really see it all come together until now.”

El pasado martes 20 de agosto, CLUES organizó una proyección en la Universidad Metropolitan State para mostrar los cortometrajes producidos en el programa de cine Visiones para jóvenes latinos desarrollado durante este verano.
Siete estudiantes de 16 a 19 años mostraron las películas de 5 minutos que crearon durante el programa, un taller intensivo de verano que permitió a los participantes descubrir nuevos talentos y una pasión por la narración de historias mientras aprendían habilidades para escribir guiones, grabar sonidos, cinematografía, iluminación y edición. Las películas exploraron temas como la identidad, la pertenencia y la experiencia del inmigrante.
“El objetivo de este programa es dar a los jóvenes el espacio para expresarse y compartir algunas de las luchas, las esperanzas y los sueños que cada uno de ellos enfrenta”, dijo Ricardo Bennett-Guzmán, consumado artista y cineasta latino que dirigió el programa. Ricardo recientemente se unió al personal de CLUES y dirigirá una variedad de programas para jóvenes, incluyendo nuestro nuevo Best Buy Teen Tech Center que pronto abrirá sus puertas en la nueva sede de CLUES en Saint Paul.
“El cine es un reflejo de la sociedad, tanto presente como pasada. Las películas pueden tener un gran impacto -a veces más de lo que pensamos- en nuestras vidas personales”, continuó Ricardo. “Cuando hacemos documentales como este y contamos historias de jóvenes como nuestros estudiantes, es realmente inspirador y tiene un gran impacto. Francisca dijo que espera compartir su película con otros jóvenes mapuches para ayudarles a aprender más sobre su historia y estar orgullosa de quienes son. Le gustaría seguir aprendiendo más sobre cine y tener la oportunidad de contar más historias en el futuro.
“Estaba muy nerviosa hasta que me senté aquí y estaba lista para verlo”, dijo Francisca. “Fue genial ver cómo todo el tiempo que he pasado trabajando en este proyecto y todo el estrés y los altibajos que he tenido durante el proceso se convirtieron en un video realmente genial. ¡Y el video de todos los demás fue increíble! Nunca se ve todo junto hasta ahora”.

CLUES is accepting applications to our new Latino Muralism Apprenticeship program, an intensive and immersive program that will cover all aspects of muralism, from its history and sociopolitical context to indoor and outdoor best practices to logistical skills like project management and fundraising.
We welcome applications for aspiring or inspired artists. No prior muralism experience is required, but a history of visual art-making is preferred (drawing, painting, graffiti, etc). The program is intended for adult learners of any age.
The program will be led by five Minnesota-based Latino muralists – Gustavo Lira, Olivia Levins Holden, Aaron Johnson-Ortiz, Camila Leiva and Claudia Valentino. Additionally, Daniela Bianchini will be leading a mosaic mural project, and we will also host guest artists, scholars and community leaders.
The program will run September 2019 through May 2020, and will be taught in three parts:
- Fall 2019 – apprentices will meet for weekly 3-hour workshops and field trips covering techniques, context and logistics. Workshops will be held Tuesday evenings, 6-9 pm, from September 3 to December 10. Food will be provided at some of the workshops.
- Spring 2020 – 8 workshops will be offered to the broader community; apprentices are not required to come to these workshops, but they will be invited to co-teach one of them each. Dates TBD based on participant availability.
- September 2019 to May 2020 – apprentices will choose mural projects to work on with the lead teaching artists, as well as their own mural projects. This work will include community engagement, learning about fundraising, painting, mosaic mural making, design, sketching, etc. (estimated 4 hours per week on average).
Apprentices will participate in weekly workshops on a variety of techniques and topics. Additionally, apprentices will work one-on-one with mentors on ongoing mural projects. The project’s educational goals are to teach contemporary techniques in mural-creation and also to situate today’s muralism within a broader tradition – in particular, to look at early 20th-century Mexican muralism, Chicano muralism of the 1960s and 70s, and other related art movements. The apprenticeship program will be offered as a bilingual Spanish-English class, and we will focus on the tradition of Latino/a/x muralism across the Americas.
Workshops will be held at CLUES Saint Paul (797 7th St E, St Paul, MN 55106), and will include field trips to various mural sites throughout the Twin Cities.

El programa será dirigido por 5 maestros latinos del muralismo en Minnesota: Gustavo Lira, Olivia Levins Holden, Aaron Johnson-Ortiz, Camila Leiva y Claudia Valentino. Adicionalmente, Daniela Bianchini enseñará la técnica de mosaicos, y también invitaremos a otros artistas, historiadores y líderes de la comunidad.

CLUES hosted a Ribbon Cutting Wednesday, July 31, to welcome partners and donors to its new expansion doubling the size of its headquarters building on the East Side of Saint Paul.
“We are thrilled to dedicate this newly expanded 40,000 sq ft building to Minnesota’s Latino community,” said Ruby Lee, CLUES President and CEO. “Our new spaces are representative of our institutional commitment to uplift Latino narratives and leadership, foster community healing through cultural engagement, and improve social and economic odds for the people we serve.”
Special guests including St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter, Carlos Tortolero, President of the National Museum of Mexican Art, CLUES board members, donors, and funders joined the Ribbon Cutting celebration. More than 150 donors, volunteers, and partners toured the new spaces and learned about the organization’s growth and new programs and services.
CLUES’ expanded headquarters will form a cornerstone for the East Metro’s rapidly expanding community and the cultural corridor on East 7th Street. The 39,000-square-foot space includes a new Day Center for Latino elders, a Teen Tech Center, a Latino Art Gallery and classroom space for multigenerational learning. Together with the Mexican Consulate, the building brings more than 35,000 people to the neighborhood each year.
As Minnesota’s largest Latino-led nonprofit agency, CLUES is positioned to serve Minnesota’s growing Latino population, which is expected to reach half a million by 2035 – more than 8.5 percent of the state’s total population. CLUES bundles culturally and linguistically relevant services across Health & Wellness, Economic Empowerment, Educational Enrichment and Arts & Culture to meet the complex and interrelated needs of the community.
Construction on the $7.5 million expansion began in September 2018, with programs and services beginning to occupy the new space this month. The public is invited to experience the new building at CLUES Fiesta Latina 2019, to be held August 10 from 11 am-4 pm on East 7th Street surrounding CLUES.
“Our new programs are designed to empower Latinos and youth by providing them with access and opportunities so they can realize their own American Dream,” said Ruby Lee. “Our new spaces reaffirm our mission to support Latinos and new immigrants to be healthy, prosperous, and engaged in their communities.”

A new home for Latino/a/x arts and culture in St. Paul. The gallery will be a space to define narratives– exploring the diversity of our community, where we came from, and where we are going. Latino/a/x artists will amplify narratives that provide a sense of belonging and power for our people, and that support marginalized members of our community as we collectively overcome fear and isolation. La Cocina de Cargill – Commercial Teaching Kitchen
A gathering place for elders and youth alike – a space to build community, learn about healthy eating, get access to healthy food and pass along cooking traditions to younger generations. Beginning in August, we will have weekly food distribution events, “La Canasta Familiar,” to provide free healthy food to the community. In the fall, community meals will celebrate and uplift traditional meals while strengthening our social connectedness.
Six New Classrooms
Three multipurpose rooms, two technology rooms, and an art room will create new opportunities for Latinos and immigrants of all ages to develop workforce skills, learn English, earn their GED, pursue citizenship, access technology and be creative. These spaces foster intergenerational learning and a sense of community.
Flexible Meeting Space
A large community gathering space with a capacity of up to 140 people to host community engagement opportunities and events, learning forums and neighborhood events. This space creates new opportunities for building community and strengthening our social fabric.

CLUES inaugura una nueva expansión que ampliará su alcance y servicios en Saint Paul
CLUES organizó una ceremonia de inauguración el miércoles, 31 de julio, para dar la bienvenida a los colaboradores y donantes a su nueva expansión, que ha duplicado el tamaño de su sede en el East Side de Saint Paul.
“Estamos encantados de dedicar este edificio de 40,000 pies cuadrados recientemente ampliado a la comunidad latina de Minnesota”, comentó Ruby Lee, Presidenta y CEO de CLUES. “Nuestros nuevos espacios son representativos de nuestro compromiso institucional para mejorar el liderazgo de los latinos, fomentar la regeneración de la comunidad a través del compromiso cultural y mejorar las probabilidades sociales y económicas de las personas a las que servimos”.
Melvin Carter, el alcalde de la ciudad de Saint Paul, Carlos Tortolero, Presidente del Museo Nacional de Arte Mexicano, miembros de la junta directiva de CLUES, donantes y financiadores se unieron a esta celebración especial. Más de 150 donantes, voluntarios y socios recorrieron los nuevos espacios y conocieron el crecimiento de la organización y los nuevos programas y servicios.
Las nuevas ampliaciones de oficinas de CLUES formarán una piedra angular para la comunidad de rápido crecimiento de East Metro y el corredor cultural en East 7th Street (la llamada Calle Siete). El espacio de 39,000 pies cuadrados incluye un nuevo Centro Diurno para personas mayores latinas, un Centro Tecnológico para Adolescentes, una Galería de Arte Latino y un aula para el aprendizaje multigeneracional. Junto con el Consulado de México, el edificio atrae a más de 35,000 personas cada año.
Como la agencia sin fines de lucro más grande de Minnesota, CLUES está posicionada para servir a la creciente población latina de Minnesota, la cual se espera que alcance medio millón para el 2035 – más del 8.5 por ciento de la población total del estado. CLUES agrupa servicios culturales y lingüísticamente relevantes a través de Salud y Bienestar, Empoderamiento Económico, Enriquecimiento Educativo y Artes y Cultura para satisfacer las necesidades complejas e interrelacionadas de la comunidad.
La construcción de la expansión de $7.5 millones comenzó en septiembre de 2018, y los programas y servicios comenzaron a ocupar el nuevo espacio este mes. La Cocina de Cargill – Cocina de Enseñanza Comercial
Un lugar de encuentro para ancianos y jóvenes por igual – un espacio para construir comunidad, aprender sobre alimentación saludable, tener acceso a alimentos saludables y transmitir las tradiciones culinarias a las generaciones más jóvenes. A partir de agosto, tendremos eventos semanales de distribución de alimentos, “La Canasta Familiar”, para proporcionar alimentos saludables gratuitos a la comunidad. En el otoño, las comidas comunitarias celebrarán y elevarán las comidas tradicionales mientras fortalecen nuestra conexión social.
Seis aulas nuevas
Tres salas de usos múltiples, dos salas de tecnología y una sala de arte crearán nuevas oportunidades para que los latinos y los inmigrantes de todas las edades desarrollen sus habilidades laborales, aprendan inglés, obtengan su GED, busquen la ciudadanía, accedan a la tecnología y sean creativos. Gabino graduated from Twin Cities Academy. He has been an active member of Youth in Action program (YA!) all four years of high school and has grown tremendously as a leader in the program. He entered the YA! program being fairly shy but eager to grow in his leadership skills. Gabino has been a role model for students within our program and been a tangible example of what a leader can look like. At school, Gabino served as president and has used his voice and leadership to create positive change in the school. He will begin at Hamline University this fall. Congratulations Gabino for your hard work and wishing you many more successes!

Steph is a first-generation Mexican American woman who graduated in her family. She will attend the University of St. Thomas—the first in her family to attend college- with a major in International Business. “For me to graduate is a new and exciting moment for my family because I will be the first woman in my family to graduate in high school and to go to college”, she said.

The last Saturday, CLUES was thrilled to celebrate the latest cohort of graduates from our Youth in Action (YA!) Program. The graduation had it all: laughter, heartfelt thanks, and even a few tears!
To kick off the event, youth shared their testimonies about what they learned this year and how it affected them. “I had a lot stronger voice than I realized,” said Gabino, a 2019 YA! graduate. “This world has so many people who can do great things. All of you sitting here right now, you have the potential to serve incredible services to this world. All it takes is time, effort and the ability to come together for the common good. That is how the youth can have the biggest impact: When we stand together, united as one!” he continued.
For our students, having a caring adult in their life has made a big difference. “Mentoring is one effective strategy to promote academic engagement and persistence,” said Tanya, the manager of the program. This year, over 50 high school students participated in the YA! St. Paul program along with the support of over 60 mentors and volunteers. We were excited to celebrate the graduations of our 12 seniors this spring and look forward to adding our first class of graduates in YA! Minneapolis next year as the program grows!
The ceremony focused on the successes of the youth participants. The mentors each shared a short anecdote about their mentee before presenting them their certificates, sharing what made them special and what they brought to the program each day. It was truly inspiring to hear about the friendships and progress made by our participants this year.
Wendoline, a recent college graduate, is one of the volunteers and gave an important message to our YA! students: “When you believe in yourself and in your path, anything is possible. Please know that there is no correct timeline, that there is not one correct path. Remember to love yourself and never, I mean never, apologize for who you are. Continue your journey, be bold and please remember that you are enough. We will always be here rooting for you and I will be here to remind you that anything is possible if you just believe!”
After the ceremony, students and mentors played games and enjoyed time together. YA!’s graduation was made possible by the generous support of Land O’Lakes’ LOL Amigos employee group, who sponsored the celebration. El sábado pasado, CLUES se emocionó al celebrar la última cohorte de graduados de nuestro Programa de Jóvenes en Acción (YA!). La graduación tuvo todo: risas, agradecimientos de corazón, e incluso algunas lágrimas.
Para comenzar el evento, los jóvenes compartieron sus testimonios sobre lo que aprendieron este año y cómo les afectó. “Tenía una voz mucho más fuerte de lo que pensaba”, dijo Gabino, un graduado de YA! en 2019. “Este mundo tiene tanta gente que puede hacer grandes cosas. Todos los que están sentados aquí ahora mismo, tienen el potencial de ofrecer servicios increíbles a este mundo. Todo lo que se necesita es tiempo, esfuerzo y la capacidad de unirse para el bien común. Así es como los jóvenes pueden tener el mayor impacto: Cuando estamos juntos, unidos como uno solo”, continuó.
Para nuestros estudiantes, el tener un adulto que los orienta y cuida en su vida marca una gran diferencia. “La mentoría es una estrategia efectiva para promover el compromiso académico y la persistencia”, comentaba Tanya, la gerente del programa. Este año, más de 50 estudiantes de preparatoria participaron en el programa YA! Saint Paul junto con el apoyo de más de 60 mentores y voluntarios. ¡Estamos emocionados de celebrar las graduaciones de nuestros 12 estudiantes del último año esta primavera y esperamos poder agregar a nuestra primera clase de graduados en YA! Minneapolis el próximo año mientras el programa crece!
La ceremonia se centró en los éxitos de los jóvenes participantes. Cada uno de los mentores compartió una breve anécdota sobre sus alumnos antes de presentarles sus certificados, compartiendo lo que los hacía especiales y lo que aportaban al programa cada día. Fue realmente inspirador escuchar acerca de las amistades y el progreso realizado por nuestros participantes este año.
Wendoline, recién graduada de la universidad, es una de las voluntarias y dio un mensaje importante a nuestros estudiantes de YA!: “Cuando crees en ti mismo y en tu camino, todo es posible. Por favor, tened claro que no hay una línea de tiempo correcta, que no hay un camino correcto. Recuerda amarte a ti mismo y nunca, quiero decir nunca, disculparte por lo que eres. Continúa tu viaje, sé valiente y por favor recuerda que eres suficiente. Siempre estaremos aquí apoyándote y yo estaré aquí para recordarte que todo es posible si simplemente lo crees”.
Después de la ceremonia, los estudiantes y los mentores jugaron y disfrutaron juntos. La graduación de YA! fue posible gracias al generoso apoyo del grupo de empleados de Land O’Lakes’ LOL Amigos, que patrocinó la celebración. Helio joined CLUES programs following the advice of his father. During the year he spent in the Youth@Work Training & Internship program, he learned, matured and built many new relationships, ultimately being placed in an internship at WEQY 104.7 East Side Radio Station.
“During his training, Helio demonstrated that he wanted to do something involving music production and marketing,” said his supervisor. “He developed marketing tactics for social media channels and developed music beats for our exclusive R&B music hours. He was an amazing intern.”
CLUES staff immediately recognized that Helio was very passionate about sending a positive message to the world and he was trying to figure out how he could do that.
“In the training I got to learn about networking, interviewing skills, business etiquette, resumes, LinkedIn, personal branding and, most importantly, how to land a career versus a job. The program gave me the perfect tools to be ready after high school,” said Helio.
During the classes Helio was always an active learner, sharing his thoughts with classmates and offering help for certain topics. He continuously showed his maturity and responsibility throughout the program. “When I decided to participate in the program, I established my goals and made a plan to reach them. I wouldn’t take NO for an answer,” Helio explained. “I always asked questions on how I can be a competitive candidate when it came to hiring needs because I need to be prepared and CLUES helped me.”
On the other hand, playing soccer has always been Helio’s passion. He brought the class a lot of information about soccer and how soccer can open a world of opportunities when it came to college scholarships. In the end, he has been selected for both the TRIO/Student Support Services Summer Bridge program and the full academic year at Augsburg University, where he will be playing with the soccer team as well.
“Summer Bridge will give me the time and support to explore my educational interests. As a first-generation student, I understandably had a lot of anxiety about attending college,” said Helio. “I hope that this program guides me into my college career and helps me be confident in myself to pursue opportunities at Augsburg University.”

Helio se unió a los programas de CLUES siguiendo los consejos de su padre. Durante el año que pasó en el programa Youth@Work Training & Internship, aprendió, maduró y construyó muchas nuevas amistades, siendo finalmente colocado en una pasantía en la estación de radio WEQY 104.7 East Side.
“Durante su formación, Helio demostró que quería hacer algo relacionado con la producción musical y el marketing”, comenta su supervisor. “Desarrolló tácticas de marketing para los canales de redes sociales y desarrolló ritmos musicales para nuestras exclusivas horas de música R&B. ¡Fue un becario increíble!”.
El equipo de CLUES inmediatamente reconoció que Helio tenía una gran pasión en enviar un mensaje positivo al mundo y estaba tratando de averiguar cómo podría hacerlo.
“En la capacitación aprendí sobre el trabajo en comunidad, las habilidades para hacer entrevistas, la conducta en los negocios, los currículos, LinkedIn, crear tu propia marca y, lo que es más importante, cómo conseguir una carrera no solo un trabajo. El programa me dio las herramientas perfectas para estar listo después de la escuela secundaria”, dijo Helio.
Durante las clases Helio siempre fue un estudiante activo, compartiendo sus pensamientos con sus compañeros y ofreciendo ayuda para ciertos temas. Continuamente mostró su madurez y responsabilidad. “Cuando decidí participar en el programa, establecí mis metas e hice un plan para alcanzarlas. Mi meta: no aceptar un NO por respuesta”, explicó Helio. “Siempre hice preguntas sobre cómo puedo ser un candidato competitivo cuando se trata de necesidades de contratación porque necesito estar preparado y CLUES me ayudó”.
Por otro lado, jugar al fútbol siempre ha sido la pasión de Helio. Él trajo a la clase mucha información sobre el fútbol y cómo el fútbol puede abrir un mundo de oportunidades cuando se trata de becas universitarias. Al final, ha sido seleccionado tanto para el programa TRIO/Student Support Services Summer Bridge como para el año académico completo en la Universidad de Augsburg, donde también jugará con el equipo de fútbol.
“Summer Bridge me dará el tiempo y el apoyo para explorar mis intereses educativos. Como estudiante de primera generación, comprensiblemente tenía mucha preocupación por asistir a la universidad”, dijo Helio. “Espero que este programa me guíe en mi carrera universitaria y me ayude a tener confianza en mí mismo para buscar oportunidades en la Universidad de Augsburg”.

On Wednesday, May 22, CLUES hosted a luncheon at our newly expanded headquarters celebrating the launch of Delta and Aeroméxico’s new nonstop service between Minneapolis/St. Paul and Mexico City beginning June 8.
“We are proud to host this important moment for Delta-Aeroméxico,” said Ruby Lee, President of CLUES. “This new route will build a bridge between these two cities that facilitates cultural, business and tourism exchange. Likewise, CLUES will do the same with our newly expanded space, where individuals and families of all ages and from all walks of life can build relationships, access resources and build community, all under one roof.”
The celebratory luncheon also included tours of the building construction and comments from St. Paul Mayor Melvin Carter, CLUES Board Treasurer Jeff Savage, Consul Affiliated Rodrigo Alcocer Urueta and Delta-Aeroméxico representatives.
Mayor Carter spoke candidly about the importance and relevance CLUES holds not just for the East Side, but for the entire city of St. Paul and the region as a whole. While highlighting CLUES’ partnership with the city on initiatives such as college savings accounts and the East 7th Street Cultural Corridor, he noted CLUES’ longstanding position as a go-to resource for Latinos and new immigrants throughout the Twin Cities. “With twice as much space, expect that we’ll be calling twice as much!” the mayor joked.
CLUES’ expanded Headquarters will form a cornerstone for St. Paul’s rapidly expanding cultural corridor on East 7th Street. The 39,000 square foot space will include a home for Latino elders, a Teen Tech Center, a Latino Art Gallery and classroom space for multigenerational learning. Together with the Mexican Consulate, the building brings more than 30,000 Latinos to the neighborhood each year.
“We look forward to the expanded possibilities this new route and our new headquarters provide,” Lee said. “Building connection is at the root of our work, and we are grateful to join Delta and Aeroméxico in building bridges for generations to come.”

Delta anuncia un servicio sin escalas entre Minneapolis/St. Paul y la Ciudad de México en la nueva ampliación de la sede de CLUES
El miércoles 22 de mayo, CLUES organizó un almuerzo en nuestra recientemente ampliada sede para celebrar el lanzamiento del nuevo servicio sin escalas de Delta y Aeroméxico entre Minneapolis/St. Paul y la Ciudad de México que estará activo a partir del 8 de junio.
“Estamos orgullosos de ser los anfitriones de este importante momento para Delta-Aeroméxico”, dijo Ruby Lee, Presidenta de CLUES. “Esta nueva ruta construirá un puente entre estas dos ciudades que facilitará el intercambio cultural, empresarial y turístico. De la misma manera, CLUES hará lo mismo con nuestro nuevo espacio ampliado, donde individuos y familias de todas las edades y condiciones sociales pueden construir relaciones, acceder a recursos y construir comunidad, todo bajo un mismo techo”.
El almuerzo de celebración también incluyó visitas a la construcción del edificio y palabras del Alcalde de St. Paul, el Tesorero de la Junta Directiva de CLUES, Jeff Savage, el Cónsul Adscrito Rodrigo Alcocer Urueta y representantes de Delta-Aeroméxico.
El alcalde Carter habló con franqueza sobre la importancia y relevancia que CLUES tiene no sólo para el lado Este, sino para toda la ciudad de St. Paul y la región como un todo. Al destacar la asociación de CLUES con la ciudad en iniciativas como las cuentas de ahorros universitarios y el Corredor Cultural de la Calle 7 Este, destacó la posición de CLUES como un recurso de referencia para los latinos y los nuevos inmigrantes en todas las Ciudades Gemelas. “Con el doble de espacio, espera que te llamemos el doble”, bromeó el alcalde.

El espacio de 39,000 pies cuadrados incluirá un hogar para ancianos latinos, un Centro Teen Tech, una Galería de Arte Latino y un aula para el aprendizaje multigeneracional. Junto con el Consulado de México, el edificio atrae cada año a más de 30,000 latinos al vecindario.
“Esperamos con interés la ampliación de las posibilidades que esta nueva ruta y nuestra nueva sede ofrecerán”, dijo Lee. “La conexión es la raíz de nuestro trabajo y estamos agradecidos de unirnos a Delta y Aeroméxico en la construcción de puentes para las generaciones venideras”.
